Ekadhipatya Shodhan

The second shodhan that is performed after Trikon shodhan is known as Ekadhipatya Shodhan. It means the that it is the lord or the ruler of only one planet. This shodhan is performed for those rashi whose planetary lord are same. It should also be noted that since Moon and Sun are the lords of only one rash each. Thus, in this scenario , Leo and Cancer are not taken into consideration when performing Ekadhipatya Shodhan. Other planets like Mars, Mercury, Venus, Saturn and Jupiter are rule two rashis each. This is reason this shodhan is performed on other 10 rashis.

Rules of Ekadhipatya Shodhan

1- Sun and Moon both are the lords of only one rashi i.e Leo and Cancer respectively. Thus, this shodhan is not performed on these rashis.

2- If any one of the rashi of a particular planet has 0 degree then also this shodhan is not performed for the rashis coming under that particular planet.

3- If any of the rashi of a planet is intruded by any other planet, except of Rahu/Ketu then also the shodhan is not performed. It can be illustrated further with an example. For instance if Venus is the lord of Taurus and Libra and any other planet sits in any of the rashi, then ekadhipatya shodhan is not done for those rashis. However, if the intruding planet is Rahu or Ketu then the shodhan can be done.

Note: When another planet is placed in arashi is adds up to the strength of the rashi. Thus, when the shodhan is performed the strength of the rashi can create hurdles in it.

4- If any of the rashi of a planet has another planet and doesn't have 0 bindi count then there are three things that one should consider while doing shodhan.

(i) - If bindu count of the rashi with the planet exceeds bindu count of rashi without the planet, then the bindi count of both the rashis should be made equal.

(ii)- Bindu count of rashi with the planet can be equal to the bindu count of rashi without planet.

(iii)- Bindu count of rashi with the planet can be less than the bindu count of rashi without planet.

In both of these conditions the shodhan of rashi with planet will not be performed. This is to make sure that the bindu count of that rashi do not change, otherwise it can become 0.

5- If any of the rashi of a planet doesn't have another planet and 0 bindu count then there are two things that one should consider while doing shodhan.

(i)- if the bindu count of both the rashis are equal then they will become 0.

(ii)- if the bindu count of rashis is not equal, then the one with more count will be made equal to the less count.
