Vedic astrology has many Yogas in which some are auspicious and some are inauspicious. What is Kaal Sarp Dosh?
When we heard that we have Kaal Sarp Dosh in the birth-chart then, first of all, we become curious to know about Kalasarpa Dosha. Actually, Kalasarpa Dosha is one of an astrological Yoga which forms through placement of 2 malefic planets, Rahu and Ketu. Though, Kaal Sarp Dosh gives inauspicious results that’s why people used to call it Dosha instead of Yoga. It has a belief that people who hurt or kill snakes in their last birth will get Kalasarpa Dosha in their present birth. Some astrologers call it Pitra Dosha because they believe this Dosha affects a person if he does not perform tasks related to manes with full faith and trust in their last birth.
There is a story has mentioned in Vedic Jyotish which is related to Kaal Sarp Dosh. At the time of churning ocean, when gods and demons were fighting with each other for the nectar pot. The lord Vishnu appeared in the form of Mohini. He has tried to confuse the demons and started giving nectar to the deities by his cleverness. Rahu, one of the demon perceived this thing and sat in the group of gods as a deity. When the lord Vishnu gave nectar to Rahu then Moon identified Rahu as a demon and told this thing to Vishnu. Then Vishnu cut his head through his Chakra. Till then, Rahu’s head and body get placed in the constellation. The body of Rahu is known as Ketu.
All planets move in the direct position as well as retrograde position, but, Rahu and Ketu always move retrograde. Both of these planets are situated in the seventh house from each other. when other seven planets place between these two planets then Kalasarpa Dosha forms in the horoscope. Placement between Rahu-Ketu reduce positivity of the planets and will reduce their strength. If any planet moves out from in-between of Rahu Ketu then Kaal Sarp Dosh will not form in the horoscope. But some astrologers say, if all the planets are placed on the lower degrees than degrees of Rahu and Ketu then Kalsarpa Dosha forms in the horoscope.
